This year marks the 10th anniversary of the ETE Dashboard. Launched in 2015 as a key recommendation of New York State’s Ending the Epidemic Blueprint, the Dashboard has grown into a comprehensive resource for tracking statewide HIV prevention, diagnosis, treatment and care outcomes. In recognition of this milestone, in September we released the ETE Dashboard Timeline, an interactive feature that highlights milestones of the past decade as well as other contextual events leading to the launch of the Ending the Epidemic Initiative in New York State.

Newly released 2024 data
In 2024 there were 60,313 recipients of PrEP, continuing a decade-long upward trend. Estimated new HIV infections increased 23% from 1,615 in 2023 to 1,986 in 2024. Among 2,552 persons with newly diagnosed HIV, 82% were linked to care within 30 days and 61% achieved viral suppression within three months. The overall number of people living with HIV in New York State remained stable at 114,670, with 93% aware of their HIV status.

The 2024 data also show persistent disparities across the HIV care continuum. Black and Hispanic/Latinx New Yorkers accounted for 78% of new HIV diagnoses despite making up only 34% of the statewide population. Differences were also seen in linkage to care and timely viral suppression. Recent gains in viral suppression within 3 months of diagnosis were especially notable among Hispanic/Latinx New Yorkers (65%), up from 59% in 2022.

Among women living with diagnosed HIV, Black and Hispanic/Latinx women continued to represent the majority statewide in 2024 making up 86% of all women living with HIV in New York State. Viral suppression remained high across groups, with variation by race and ethnicity. Differences in PrEP use were also evident across sex and racial and ethnic groups. Women only made up 8% of PrEP users desipite accounting for 22% of new diagnoses, and PrEP uptake varied across racial and ethnic groups when compared with the distribution of new HIV diagnoses.

New dashboard features introduced in 2024 include both the ETE Timeline as well as downloadable visualizations in PDF and PNG formats, making it easier to incorporate dashboard data into presentations, reports, and planning documents.
